Heinze for School Board Director #3

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Scott Heinze the choice of primary opponent
Tacoma, WA September 5, 2011 - Tacoma School Board Director primary candidate Andrew K. Milton has endorsed Scott Heinze in the general election for the Director #3 position.   Heinze and Dexter Gordon (who are separated by less only a few percentage points) advanced to the general election in November.  Following the primary, Milton talked with both campaigns and explained that he thinks Scott Heinze is better qualified and better prepared for the position.
Scott is keen to work with people--parents, teachers, administrators--to make our schools successful, Milton said.  Heinze understands that leading means ensuring that those you lead are enabled to succeed.  Scott has put those principles into action through his  work with groups like Communities in Schools, Milton noted.
Heinze maintains a solid grasp of the issues confronting the school board, Milton also observed.  Scott has a good sense of the nuts and bolts of solving specific problems across the range of issues confronting schools.  As a small businessman, he knows that we need to take a long-term strategic approach to managing the district--in a business sense, and he understands specific details like the importance of a teacher evaluation process that encourages teachers to improve their craft.
